The Curragh Racecourse Irish 2000 Guineas horse race – counterpart to the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket is one of the five Irish Classic races, which also include the Irish versions of the 1000 Guineas, St Leger, Oaks and Derby races.

The Irish 2000 Guineas is a Group 1 flat race for three-year-old thoroughbreds run over a distance of one mile. Irish 2000 Guineas Winners

On 24 May 2008 jockey Johnny Murtagh rode Henrythenavigator to victory over Kevin Manning on New Approach to win the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh Racecourse. Henrythenavigator’s performance marked the fifth Irish 2000 Guineas victory for renowned trainer Aidan O'Brien and the second consecutive 2000 Guineas double. It's not unusual for horses that run the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket to run the Irish 2000 Guineas later in the month. In recent times horses such as Don't Forget Me, Tirol, Rodrigo De Triano and Rock Of Gibraltar have all completed doubles, winning both of the 2000 Guineas races. 2007 saw another double with Cockney Rebel winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and the 2007 Irish 2000 Guineas.

Irish 2000 Guineas Fixtures

The Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas will be raced on 23 May at the Curragh Racecourse, the day before the Boylesport Irish 1000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Gold Cup are run.

Other notable races due to be held on the day of the Irish 2000 Guineas include the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes and TP Waters Marble Hill Stakes.
